2nd Annual Columbia Black Rodeo

The rodeo has been a favorite pastime of families for decades and this one will feature professional cowboys performing phenomenal feats of skill as they compete for $8,900 in prize money, in categories such as bull riding, steer wrestling, bare back riding, calf roping, team roping, and barrel racing. There are even special performance categories like steer undecorating for cowgirls as well as junior barrel racing and junior break-away calf roping for the kids.

For the 11th year, the Greater Rosewood Merchants Association is gearing up to bring some infamous Creole cuisine to the Midlands! From 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., on 5/7/16, lovers of all things Creole and Cajun are invited to Rosewood Drive to take part in one of the city’s favorite celebrations, featuring over 10,000 pounds of fresh Louisiana grown crawfish.  If crawfish aren’t your thing, lots of other tasty treats will be available for your dining pleasure.

Famously Hot Scavenger Hunt

In recognition of National Travel & Tourism Week, the annual event championing the importance of the travel and tourism industry, we invite you all to embark on a scavenger hunt leading you around the downtown Columbia area and its tourism attractions. Teams of four will begin at the Columbia Regional Visitors Center (located inside the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center) to receive their first clue. From there, you will receive clues at all subsequent locations. At each stop, at least one team member must take a photo and tag the approriate location on social media in order to qualify for prizes. Upon completion of the hunt, you will be entered into a drawing for a number of prizes. Winners will be announced by May 14, 2016.

Participants will stop at local historic sites and receive two free beverages and appetizers along the way.
